The work is not set in isolation. The exhibition, the studio, the gallery, the curator, the production facilities, the economic and socio-political context,… (production, display, distribution) add to the reading of the work. What happened in the news today, what is on show in town, how is the scene organised, what is the overall philosophical climate. How can we anticipate the reading of the viewer, how does he or she construct the work, how can we consciously think through the parameters that define this perception.
